GOOGLE HANGOUTS
CREATE A HANGOUT MESSAGE

STEP 2: Find the Hangouts icon
The green Hangouts icon can be located on the right side of your Google+ page.

STEP 3: Start a new Hangout
Click on the Hangouts icon pictured above, then select "+ New Hangout" and your Google+ circles and contacts will appear below. Check the box next to the people that you would like to add to the Hangout, or search for a person by typing their name, phone number, or email address.

STEP 4: Select message
Click on the "Message" icon pictured below, then a new small screen will open that allows you to send text, pictures, and emoji.

STEP 5: Send text message
Type your message in the bottom of the new screen. Note that if your contact isn't online right now, they will see your messages later when they sign into Google.

STEP 6: Add emoji to your conversation
If you click the smiley face in the lower left corner, you will open a list of emoticons and emoji. They are separated into categories which you can browse through by selecting the icons at the top of the emoticon screen. Click on the emoji that you would like to send, and it will appear at the bottom of the message screen. Press enter to send the emoji to your contact.

STEP 7: Share pictures
Add images to your Hangout Message by clicking the Camera icon in the lower right corner of your chat window. This will open the Select Image window, where you can choose an image or YouTube video to send.

STEP 8: Adjust your chat settings
Click the Gear icon near the top right corner of the window to choose your archive settings. You can also block the person you are chatting with if you don't want them to be able to contact you.

STEP 9: Turn the message into a video call
Click the video camera button near the top left corner of the window. If the person is logged into Google+, they will receive a notification that you are attempting to start a video call. Note that video calls do not require both users to have a camera. You can video chat with a camera on one end and a microphone on the other, or just camera and text.
